Chorlton Library is the second busiest library in Manchester and a real bedrock of Chorlton life. The library has recently undergone a refurb too – with a range of new books, comfy sofas and a special space dedicated for children – it’s the perfect place for young families to spend time together.

A real gem in South Manchester, the library was funded by Scottish-American sponsor Andrew Carnegie back in 1914. It’s a Grade II listed building too, which means its protected forever from any demolition or redevelopment.

The library has served as a community hub within the suburb for more than a century and hosts the brilliant Chorlton Book Festival every year. Offering Tiny Tots and Toddler Sessions, a dedicated exhibition space, local history sessions and Grand Day Out, a weekly club for the over 50s, it’s fair to say Chorlton Library has got something for everybody.
