The Monastery Manchester

Church type building, with two trees
The Monastery Manchester

This former church and Franciscan friary has been described as architect Pugin’s masterpiece. After being derelict for many years, the Monastery is now bursting with a range of wellness activities, workshops, concerts, community groups, shows, talks, tours, wedding fairs, markets and more!

It is a stunning example of the Neo-Gothic style that Pugin helped to make popular in Victorian Britain. The building was saved from ruin by the Building Preservation Trust that still maintains and operates the site

Full of wonderful things, this hidden gem is a great place for the whole family to visit. And it’s absolutely free!
