Moss Side

Venture just south of the city centre, you’ll find the proud home of Manchester’s Caribbean culture and some super things to do near Moss Side, Manchester.

You’ll find Alexandra Park located just between the vibrant communities of Moss Side and Whalley Range. Covering a massive 60 acres, the park has a fishing lake with dipping platform, children’s play areas, sports areas, community orchard and cafe, operated by much-loved Chorlton-based Tea Hive. Every August, Manchester Carnival brings a huge celebration of Carribean culture to the park. Running for over 40 years, and attracting over 30,000 visitors each year, the carnival is the North West’s largest celebration of Carribean theatre, dance, music and costume.

The area is also home to Moss Side Millenium Powerhouse, a local multi-use youth centre, and The Hideaway Youth project for young people aged 11-25.
