National Play Day in Manchester

National Play Day 2026 takes place on Wednesday, 5 August. It’s a celebration of children’s right to play, and the important role play has in helping children grow, learn and thrive.

Children of all ages can get involved with fun activities including arts and crafts, free play, team sports, outdoor adventures and much more.

This year’s theme, “Play – here, there, everywhere!”, celebrates the idea that play can happen anywhere – from parks and playgrounds to streets, schools and even at home. It’s all about creating more opportunities for children to play, explore and use their imagination every day.

We welcome children from all backgrounds and abilities at the activities and events. If your child requires any reasonable adjustments to be able to take part, please do let the event organiser know.
