Whalley Range

A leafy suburb tucked between Hulme and Chorlton, there are many things to do near Whalley Range, Manchester.

One of the most eye-catching buildings in Whalley Range has to be the British Muslim Heritage Centre. Situated on College Road, the centre was a recipient of Her Majesty the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2018. The centre welcomes over 120,000 people through its door every year and hosts community open days, tours of the Grade II listed building, exhibitions, a community radio station and Arabic calligraphy workshops.

Whalley Range is also home to one of South Manchester’s best parks. Covering a huge 60 acres, Alexandra Park boasts a fishing lake, sports areas, children’s play areas, a community orchard and a cafe. Every August the park hosts Manchester’s annual carnival, the largest celebration of Carribean culture in the North West.
