Bailey’s Wood is one of Manchester’s few remaining ancient woodlands. It’s surrounded by the buildings of the former Booth Hall Children’s Hospital and the neighbouring residential housing estate.

You’ll see a variety of butterflies here in the spring, and also (if you’re lucky) the greater spotted woodpecker, treecreeper and nuthatch birds.
