The Velodrome Arena is temporarily closed for refurbishment until August 2022

Since it opened in 1994, The National Cycling Centre has become one of the finest and fastest board tracks in the world. Britain’s first indoor Olympic cycling track, it hosted the cycling events in the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games.

One of the busiest tracks in the world, the centre offers an extensive programme of activities for all levels of ability, 7 days a week. You can often find some well-known faces from the GB cycling team at the track, including Sir Chris Hoy and and Vicky Pendleton MBE, alongside local schoolchildren and cycling enthusiasts.

In 2011 the Cycling Centre underwent a significant expansion with the opening of its indoor BMX track and arena. And for those wanting the intensity and freedom of outdoor cycling, the centre offers the Clayton Vale mountain bike trails – 12km of urban biking fun – certain to put a big grin on your face, whatever your cycling ability.
