Stories of Women, Work and Uncertain Futures

Stories of Women, Work and Uncertain Futures is the third part of a 5 year project created by women from Manchester’s diverse communities with the US artist Suzanne Lacy. The project has looked at issues of paid and unpaid work with women over 50, focusing on gender, age, race, disability and class. Its aim is to create civic change and affect social policy.

A new film highlights the multiple inequalities around work faced by women later in life. The film has excerpts from 100 interviews, with the voices layered to demonstrate the universality of these experiences. The film is shown alongside the project manifesto, a photograph of the 100 women interviewed, and a documentary which outlines the research findings.
