Drumming for Beginners. Learn about African Drumming using full-size, professional djembe drums

Are you aged between 11-16?

Come to Miles Platting Community Library for this exciting free session run by Drum Roots

It’s the beat of the heart; the pulse of the blood; the rhythm of life. A celebration of the spirit as old as mankind. Drumming is a powerful, potent, and vital force. Drumroots has harnessed this for education and entertainment, for self-expression and self-discovery.

You will use a full-size, high-quality djembe drum. Drumroots workshops offer a chance to learn while having a great time. African Drumming is inclusive, accessible and its impact is immediate. The workshop will help to build confidence, improve teamwork, explore creativity, and experience a real sense of togetherness.

You will learn some basic drumming techniques and then play in rhythm. With your new skills you will be guided to interact as part of a full musical ensemble and produce a complex and highly rewarding polyrhythmic traditional West African piece!
