The Castlefield Gallery will reopen from Wednesday 19 May 2021.

Castlefield Gallery is a contemporary art gallery and artist-focused organisation established in 1984.

The gallery exhibits a curated programme of new and commissioned exhibitions at its Gallery site in Manchester, as well as organising and commissioning exhibitions off-site and in the public realm. Over the past three decades we have grown to become an integral part of the North of England’s cultural fabric. Many Castlefield Gallery ‘artist alumni’ have gone on to achieve national and international acclaim. Castlefield Gallery works with artists, partnerships, collaborators and venues locally, nationally and internationally – often through dynamic partnerships and exchanges.

The organisation also supports artists’ practice and career development, working especially with artists at early and mid-career stages. Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces re-purposes temporarily vacant properties in Greater Manchester and across the North West of England for use by artists, accessed by its 200 strong plus Castlefield Gallery Associates.

The celebrated Ryan Gander OBE is Castlefield Gallery’s Artist Patron.

Castlefield Gallery won a 2019 Manchester Culture Award for ‘Inspiring Innovation’ for its partnership work with Manchester arts organisations Venture Arts and the Whitworth.

Castlefield Gallery is part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio and is a Cultural Partner of Manchester City Council 2018–22.
