Hulme High Street Library

An open book on a table

Hulme was home to the first branch of Manchester’s free library, the first completely free institution of its kind in the whole country.

Now, based in the leisure centre on Hulme High Street, the pioneering spirit of the first library marches on. Offering free public access to a wide range of books, DVDs and computer services, as well as regular children’s storytime sessions and a health information point.

Offering a complete workout for body and mind, why not check out the state-of-the-art 120 station gym and fitness class programme? We love that the centre offers a superb and fully accessible library and leisure service for the Hulme community.
