South Asian Heritage Month in Manchester

South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) runs from 18 July to 17 August each year.

SAHM seeks to mark, celebrate and connect with South Asian cultures, communities and histories.

We can find South Asian influences everywhere in Manchester, and across Britain. From the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the music we listen to and the words we use – our city is rich with the sights and sounds of proud South Asian identity.

Next year, Manchester Museum will house its very own South Asia Gallery. This will be a new section in the museum where we can explore the stories, experiences and contributions of South Asian communities in the UK.

However, until Manchester Museum opens up again next year, we’ve pulled together a guide of events to help you celebrate South Asian Heritage Month for 2022. Read on for some ideas.
