Join activist and campaigner Erinma Bell for an evening of conversation on what is like to be a black female leader today.
In 2003, Erinma founded a local community oraganisation called CARISMA (which stands for Community Alliance for Renewal Inner South Manchester Area). CARISMA was set up to offer life-chances for people in the community by giving them positive alternatives other than violent street, gun and gang crimes.
Since the organisation was founded, there has been a 92% decrease in gun and gang crime in Manchester. There is also a sculpture of Erinma in Manchester Town Hall, the first female statue to go on display there in 150 years. It’s made from 50 recycled guns – a tribute to her longstanding work in anti-gun and gang crime.
