Theatre in Manchester

The theatre scene in Manchester offers everything from award-winning musicals to brand new plays and dance shows. 

Hosting many theatre festivals, the city is most well known for Manchester International Festival. Taking place every two years, the festival brings new work from the some of the world’s most exciting artists. The city also has a lively fringe scene too. You can enjoy plays by up-and-coming writers and actors at the Manchester Fringe Festival every July.

The city is also home to many striking theatres with rich histories. You’ll find places like the Royal Exchange and Mayfield sitting alongside newer theatres like HOME and Hope Mill in Ancoats.
