Heaton Park is excited to bring this thrilling chance to try a new sport or perfect your existing biking skills.
Pump Track riding is a fun and exciting way to work on your cycling technique. And over the Easter school holidays, young thrill-seekers can head to Heaton Park to enjoy this breathtaking sport.
A pump track is a series of mounds and banked turns that is designed to improve a rider’s bike handling technique. Pump tracks are usually in a circuit so that riders can complete multiple laps by ‘pumping’ — generating momentum by up and down body movements, instead of pedalling or pushing.
There are coached sessions and also open sessions available. All equipment is provided – but you can also bring your own bicycle and helmet (subject to on site safety check).
Sessions will take place on 8 April, and from 11 April – 20 April.
Coached sessions will take place from:
10:00 am – 11:00 am for young people aged 5 to 7 years.
11:15 am – 12:15 pm for young people aged 8 to 11 years.
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm for young people aged 11 to 14 years.
2:15 pm – 3:15 pm for young people aged 14 to 16 years.
Open sessions will take place from:
12:15 pm – 12:45 pm for young people aged 5 to 11 years.
3:15 pm – 3:45 pm for young people aged 11 to 16 years.
The track is also open to adults and young people from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm too.
