Our Year: World Poetry Day Competition

Two young people stand on a lawn.

Calling all young poets, rappers, beatboxers and performers!

As part of World Poetry Day on the 21 March, we are launching an Our Year Poetry Competition.

All children and young people are invited to take part. Get creative – your entries can be written, spoken or sung. You can use any expressive medium that is comfortable for you. Whether you’re a rapper, a beatboxer, animator, performer or use BSL, this competition is open to all.

You can write your poem down or you can perform and film your work.

All of the winning poems will be displayed in venues across Manchester.

The competition will be split up into the following categories:

4-7 years, 8-13 years, 14-16 years and those over the age of 16.

All poems and films will become part of the digital archive as part Our Year UNICEF Child Friendly City.

To enter email your entry (remember to include your name and age group) to ouryear@manchester.gov.uk. You must send in your entry by 21 May 2022.
