Gorton Unleashed: Sounds of the Streets is a brand-new, free project for young people aged 13–19 in Gorton. Over four weeks you can learn stage and screen combat, sound design, editing and filmmaking – and create work that represents your Gorton, in your own way.
Working with professional artists, you’ll build a filmed combat sequence set to a soundscape of local stories. Along the way you’ll learn new skills, share your experiences, and even have the chance to perform on the main stage at HOME.
Taster sessions run on 24 Sept, 1 Oct, 8 Oct and 15 Oct, where you can drop in, try combat and sound, and record your stories. Then sign up for the 4-week Sounds of Gorton (22 Oct–12 Nov) or Combat for Stage/Screen (19 Nov–10 Dec) projects.
Participants will also receive free tickets to see two shows and a film at HOME.
Sessions take place Wednesdays, 5:00 pm – 6.30pm, at HideOut Youth Zone, Gorton. Please note that to attend ALL sessions, you must become a FREE Member of HideOut Youth Zone. You can do this on the day – just turn up 20 mins before the session with a parent/guardian.
