Rain or shine, indoor or outdoor, you can expect trails and games for all when you visit Elizabeth Gaskell’s House this summer.

Explore the house’s historic garden on the ‘Family Garden Trail’. You can find your way around the trail using QR codes and your mobile phone. Or if you prefer, you can pick up a paper version of the map.

During the summer school holidays we have Victorian family games like croquet and skittles on the lawn and you are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the garden.

Inside our Victorian House, we also have our much-loved ‘Cranford the Cat Trail’ alongside dressing-up for all ages, activity baskets and colouring sheets in the basement.

Both trails and garden games are free and children under 16 are free with a paying adult. Adults are £7 per person and tickets are valid for 12 months so you can return as many times as you want within the year. Summer Fun takes place at the House every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday 11:00 am-4.30 pm (last entry 3pm).
