October 2024 marks 10 years since Elizabeth Gaskell’s House was first opened to the public.

Our friends at Elizabeth Gaskell’s House are holding several special events over the next year to mark this milestone.

At the centre of the anniversary celebration is a brand-new exhibition ‘The Story of Elizabeth Gaskell’s House: From Dereliction to Delight’, exploring the building’s restoration and the people who helped make it happen. There are also a number of online events – exploring Elizabeth’s life and works – taking place too.
