Discover some powerful new work by artist Yuki Kihara at the Whitworth in this striking exhibition exploring history, identity and the Pacific. Through photography, video and archive material, Kihara looks at how Western figures like artist Paul Gauguin and scientist Charles Darwin shaped ideas about the Pacific – and challenges those views from an Indigenous, queer perspective.

You’ll see bold photographic recreations of famous paintings, alongside a new video work that questions ideas about nature and gender. A thought-provoking exhibition that puts community, care and storytelling at its heart.
