Threads is a textiles exhibition at Manchester Central Library. The collection of work explores Manchester’s heritage as the world’s first industrial city.

Hosted by Manchester City of Literature, this exhibition explores Manchester’s rich history – the cotton industry and its links to slavery, social reform and protest. The exhibition also invites visitors to examine textiles from around the world and the part they play in cultural identity.

The exhibition also coincides with International Mother Language Day, a festival to mark the many cultures, and also the languages spoken in Manchester.
